Central Illinois Public Transit is a federally funded PUBLIC transportation system.The Illinois Department of Transportation provides operating assistance for publictransportation in non-urbanized areas. Additional financial support for the systemcomes from fares, contracts through Area Agencies on Aging, Illinois Departmenton Aging, private entities and through donations from the United Way organization andmunicipalities.

Central Illinois Public Transit provides a door-to-door demand/reponse service requiring advance reservation. The fleet consists of lift-equipped and ramped vehicles making the system accessible to everyone.

Schedules are available from each county office. Service is available Monday through Friday from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m.

Riders may travel anywhere within their county for any purpose. Vehicles are available for grocery shopping, medical and dental appointments, visiting, attending nutrition sites or just going for a ride.

The cost for a ride will depend on whether the rider is riding as a private individual or as a client of a social service agency. The fare for private individuals is listed below:

$2.00 per one-way trip within a 10 mile radius

$3.00 per one-way trip within 11-25 mile radius

$4.00 per one-way trip within 26-50 mile radius

$1.00 for all children twelve years of age and under per one-way trip
