WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE GOLDEN CIRCLE NUTRITION PROGRAM? Keeping Seniors healthier longer is the primary mission of the Golden Circle Nutrition Program. Since adequate nutrition is critical to health, functioning and the quality of life, the Golden Circle Nutrition Program is an important component of home and community-based services for older adults. Congregate programs promote dignity and independence for older Americans. The group dining program provides a socially interactive network which promotes mentally healthy activity and decreases creeping isolation and depression. Home-delivered meals can make a difference for an older adult who is struggling to remain independent in his/her own environment. A volunteer will provide the service of checking in on the home-bound senior on a daily basis. A hot nutritious meal and a few moments of companionship can sometimes be enough to prevent early institutionalization for home-bound seniors.
