WEATHERIZATION PHILOSOPHY

Weatherization Works!

Purpose

The Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program’s primary purpose is to help residents save fuel and money, while increasing the comfort of their homes.

Goal

The goal of the Home Weatherization Assistance Program is to provide year-round comfort and savings to the elderly, people with disabilities, and low-income families throughout the service area, and on a broader scale, save energy.  Energy conservation measures reduce the heating and cooling cost, lessen the consumption of fuel, provide safer heating systems, and create greater comfort in the home.  Reduction of the energy consumption of a home allows families to utilize a greater portion of their income for other expenses.

Energy Conservation Measures

Energy conservation measures that are employed to reduce the energy consumption of a home are caulking, weather-stripping, insulation, air sealing, window and door repair/replacement, furnace repair/replacement, and water heater repair.
