Youth Eligibility Requirements

  • Reside in one of the following counties:  Clark, Clay, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, Moultrie, Richland
  • 16 thru 21 years old
  • Meet low income guidelines
  • Additional barrier is required

Applicants that have dropped out of high school must be able to take GED test within one year.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Each applicant will be expected to achieve the following while enrolled in the Youth Training and Education Program:

  • Attain a high school diploma, GED, or other credential
  • Create resume
  • Increase basic skills in the areas of reading and math
  • Secure employment or attend post secondary education/training program
  • Must maintain monthly contact with Case Manager during enrollment
  • Must maintain contact with program for 12 months following program completion

  • Paid work experience
  • Leadership skills
  • Job readiness training
  • Supportive services
