Housing Weatherization Assessor/Final Inspector - Full-time position with flexible work days. Responsibilities include performing weatherization assessments of client’s homes and making eligibility determinations, applying energy conservation and furnace technical measures by maintaining and overseeing the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive program activities, and completing final inspections of contractor work completed on client’s homes. The ability to effectively coordinate support to contractors, vendors, and clients is necessary. Associate degree in applied engineering, construction trades or related field is preferred although experience which has led to the requisite skills and knowledge needed to perform the above duties may be considered in
place of a degree; high school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain Building Performance Institute QCI certification, OHSA 30-hr. training certification, and OHSA Confined Space Training within timeframes given upon employment.

RSVP Specialist - The C.E.F.S. Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is currently hiring for the position of a full-time RSVP Specialist with base of operations in Effingham. The Program Specialist position is responsible for recruiting, enrolling and supporting volunteers 55 and older in their respective county. The Program Specialist will also work with community members to establish volunteer opportunities (“Work Stations”) that meet the Retired Senior Volunteer Program guidelines. Candidate must be able to meet with organizations to establish volunteer opportunities, locate volunteers to fill positions, and complete weekly reports. Training and support will be provided but candidate must be self- driven, motivated to succeed, have good follow-through and willingness to attend community events to recruit both volunteers and volunteer opportunities. Computer, Microsoft Office and data entry skills needed. Associates degree preferred; experience in marketing, human services, business will be considered in lieu of degree. Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid Illinois driver’s license and meet pre-employment requirements.

Resource Room Specialist - Full-time position is available in Effingham office. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Responsibilities include organizing and implementing activities in the resource room to prepare customers for success in the workforce, supervising customers in resource room for all WIOA partners, provides training and monitors Illinois workNet computers and technology, and performs liaison work for the program with WIOA partners. Career Planner (Mattoon and Olney offices) - The C.E.F.S. Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Program (WIOA) is currently hiring for the position of a Full-time Career Planner for the Mattoon, IL and Olney, IL offices. This position is responsible for implementing the Adult, Youth, Dislocated Workers, and TAA programs which includes eligibility, assessment, career counseling, and caseload management. C.E.F.S. Head Start Program is hiring for the following positions: 

Administrative Assistant - Effingham central office. Full time/full year position, 40-hrs./wk. M-F. Associates degree preferred, experience may be substituted for degree, high school diploma or equivalent required. Position requires providing support and administration assistance to the Head Start 0- 5 Program Director. Must possess computer and general office clerical skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and demands to meet program deadlines.

Teacher Assistant – Taylorville center. School year position, 40-hours/wk, M-F. Associates degree in early childhood education or related coursework equivalent to a major in early childhood education and one year experience teaching preschool age children preferred; must possess or willing to obtain a preschool (3-5) CDA credential with high school diploma or equivalent require. Must be at least 19.

Classroom Aides –  Effingham and Taylorville centers. School year position, 40-hrs./wk. M-F. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be at least 18. Experience working with preschool age children preferred.

Lunch Aide -  Effingham and Louisville centers. School year position, 16 hrs./wk. M-Th at the Head Start center in Louisville, IL. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Bus Driver – Effingham and Litchfield centers. School year positions, 40-hrs./wk. M–F. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have a CDL school bus license or able to obtain a school bus eligibility receipt from the Secretary of State driver license facility by which to obtain a CDL school bus license. Must be at least 21.

Bus Monitor – Effingham, Litchfield, and Shelbyville centers. School year positions, 40 hrs./wk. M-F. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be at least 18.

Parent Educators (Shelby/Moultrie County, Christian County, Clay/Effingham County)

Shelby/Moultrie, Christian County and Clay/Effingham counties. Full- time/full year positions, 40-hrs./wk. M-F. Associates degree in early childhood education or related field with 120 clock hours of early childhood education and principles of adult learning covering the growth and development of children birth to age five required or high school diploma or equivalent required with a home-based CDA credential.

Substitute Bus Drivers - School year positions. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have a CDL school bus license or able to obtain a school bus eligibility receipt from the Secretary of State driver license facility by which to obtain a CDL school bus license. Must be at least 21.

Homeless Intensive Case Manager (Fayette County) - C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation has an opening for a Homeless Intensive Case Manager. This position will serve a key role in the success of the HUD Rapid Re-Housing Program, a program designed to assist homeless individuals and families. Job duties will include intensive case management including budgeting, goal setting, life skills, and developing program exit plans; home visits; home inspections; and interactions with landlords.  This person will also be required to document all interaction with program participants and case management activities into a specified software program in a timely manner. Location of home office will be based in Fayette County Outreach Office.  This position will travel throughout Fayette and Montgomery Counties to provide services to all HUD Rapid Re-Housing participants. An agency vehicle will be provided for this travel. Bachelors in Social Work, Sociology, or related field is preferred. Associate degree in a human services related field is required. This position will require HUD Certification within 18 months of hire.

Outreach Resource Specialist (Moultrie County) - C.E.F.S. Outreach Resource Specialist position available in Moultrie County. As part of the Outreach team, the resource specialist will assist with waiting room activities including answering phones and greeting customers, scheduling, and office maintenance. This position may work directly with customers, under the guidance of other Outreach staff in defined areas including information and referrals, benefit enrollment and assistance with the tax program. Associate degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required.

Housing Counselor (Christian County) - C.E.F.S. Christian County Housing Counselor position available. This position is located in the Christian County Outreach Office in Taylorville. Duties may include recruitment, intake, eligibility determination, assessment, counseling, casework, and the development of individual’s goals and perspectives in becoming self-sufficient. The Counselor also assists in liaison work for the program with all persons, parties and entities, both public and private as assigned. Duties will require travel, training in homeownership services, and home visits/inspections. This position will require HUD Certification within 18 months of hire. Associates degree required.

Mechanic (Shelby County) - Mechanic needed for Central Illinois Public Transit at our maintenance facility in Shelbyville, Illinois.  Primary function of this position is to maintain, repair, and service a variety of public transit vehicles and related equipment.  Associates degree in Automotive Technology, Vocational Education, or related field preferred although experience which has led to the requisite skills and knowledge needed to perform the above may be considered in place of degree. Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent and a valid Class D license. CDL will be required within ninety days of hire, agency provided training.
